Custom dashboards: the right KPIs per role

Configurable widgets, building and period filters: a useful dashboard answers one specific question, not everything at once.

Charts and KPIs on screen

A useful dashboard answers a specific question (“where do this division’s drifts stand this month?”), not everything at once. Octowise lets you compose views with charts, KPIs, and filters, from portfolio data already in the platform: energy, finance, compliance, alerts.

Indicators, not bespoke development

Each block starts from a template (KPI, trend, breakdown, time series). Title and indicators are set in configuration, without an IT ticket to “add gas consumption for high schools”. Displayed labels follow the user’s language.

Creating a dashboard does not automatically add an empty block: you compose on purpose. That is deliberately slower than “12 default tiles”, and much more readable in a steering meeting.

  • Configurable templates (title, indicators, charts).
  • Building and period filters, including on executive views.
  • Finance, compliance, and energy in one view.
  • Labels in the user’s language.

The single-view trap

The energy manager does not read the same thing as the CFO or the compliance lead. An “entire portfolio, every indicator” view drowns some people and frustrates others. Several targeted dashboards work better: operations, budget, tertiary decree, source availability.

Filters also prevent apples-to-oranges comparisons: a one-off indicator should be read as a value, not as a curve over time.

Carbon in the same management loop

CO₂ tracking is not a standalone module. Estimated versus actual reduction lives in action plans and surfaces in finance / performance indicators. You avoid the annual carbon report disconnected from works actually invoiced.

The same principle as energy: useful data is already attached to a building, a plan, an invoice, not a parallel export “for the CSR report”.

Dashboards that rest on the rest of Octowise

Charts draw on the same repository as the rest of the platform (buildings, invoices, and so on). If a data source is down, a DPE is not linked, or an invoice is not captured, the indicator will show it. The dashboard does not invent a truth on top of an incomplete system.

That is why source availability, compliance, and finance should be treated as reporting prerequisites, not as separate topics.
